Use LDSOLAR Controller Build Off-grid Solar System
Freedom to park anywhere and still run your fridge, lights, and devices is the dream that sells every van build. A reliable RV solar setup starts—unsurprisingly—with the right charge controller. Here is how to spec one for life on the road.
List every device, its watts, and hours of use. A typical couple’s van might draw 1,500–2,500 Wh/day. This number drives both battery size and panel count.
Most new builds use LiFePO4 (lithium) for its depth-of-discharge (80–100% usable) versus lead-acid’s ~50%. Lithium is lighter and lasts longer—but it demands a controller that supports lithium charge profiles. All LDSOLAR MPPT units are lithium-ready.
On a moving vehicle, MPPT’s ability to extract more from partial-shade panels is a real advantage.
Use appropriately fused cables, keep the controller close to the battery, and use temperature-compensated charging. Add a battery monitor so you are never surprised by a dead fridge.
